July 2016
Greetings from hot and sunny Niš!
We are happy and healthy. We enjoy each new thing that Toby learns, even if it means new measures to keep him safe from himself.
This summer, only one Sunday were we unable to have a meeting. That cannot be said for the Ladies’ Bible Study. Tonight they will finish the “6-week” course on James, started in June. Some weeks were canceled and others were just coffee and visiting. Prayer meetings also suffered. The ladies who began coming in the spring are still coming fairly regularly. Please pray for Klara, Mirjana, Beti, and Nikolija.
This past month Jan, Toby, and I began to visit Negotin again, even without someone to do kids’ class. One man is working abroad, but the other three adults came both times. We began studying Acts. It is a good time of learning for all of us, as it is also open for comments and questions. Pray that Slavoljub, Zoran, and Dada can reach their friends and neighbors to expand this group.
This summer, there were two Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) Training Institutes. A Bosnian couple—Vlado & Mirijana, Neven (from the other Baptist church in Niš), and siblings Marko and Sneža, attended in Romania, while two other Hungarian-Serb couples finished their training in Hungary. Considering the economic situation in Serbia and Bosnia, and that each student has set aside 12 weeks for this, there is no small urge to see it result in employment. Pray for wisdom and finances for each student to follow God’s best path for them this fall, whether employment with CEF, or something else.
There were 9 camps this summer, and we have heard some good reports. Pray that the campers will carry what they learned and experienced into their daily lives.
This fall Darko Adamek and some other workers will be traveling a lot; pray that they have wisdom in managing time and energy for family and ministry
Greetings from Ethan and Jan
